Severance question by hiring company

Got a call from a company looking to hire, wanted to know what I got as a severance package from my previous employer. I side stepped the question but the HR person wanted to know specifically what it was. I told them the agreement prevented me from disclosing the details, who they said "very interesting". What the hell is it their business? Why would they need to know the details of the package? What difference does it make for the new company?
