Should I put my Immigration Status on my Resume?

An insider told me that I was not considered for an internship interview because my Resume and obviously my name screamed "International Student." The company did not want to consider me because it would be an hassle for them to sponsor me for a OPT and H1 Visa.

Truth is I have a Green Card I don't need Visa sponsorship.

So should I mention my immigration status somewhere in my resume? Is yes, how and where.

I have heard some companies don't even consider International Students and not all firms' application systems ask about immigration status. I don't want it to happen to me again.

Thanks.

i would definitely add it - put it down at the bottom of your resume in the 'additional info' section where you list interests, skills, things like that.

i've personally witnessed candidates being discounted due to the likelihood of needing an h1b. and even if not because of that, just because non-US people are perceived to have decreased client interaction skills and general social skills.

it's a sad reality and not saying i agree with it - just know what you're up against.

and anyway - why not?
