Some Advice Appreciated

Hi All,

Have been lurking for a while but have finally decided to post a topic of my very own.

Little bit of background about me: - Economics undergrad at Russell Group Uni (UK) - ~2 yrs experience in Management Consulting - Currently completing finance masters at Cambridge -...wanting to enter the world of Sales/Trading (Quant...)

I have a multitude of questions, but i guess primarily, I'm interested to hear from you all as to how crucial having exposure to financial engineering type modules is over performing well, when looking to enter a quant type role?

I'm most interested in getting some experience on a trading floor (I presume from a research type position?), so it would be good to hear what your opinions are in terms of 'progression/specialising' that each role provides.
