some Goldman Sachs interns are going to get F*CKED

My friend has a Goldman Sachs internship in Ops. He's been waiting for a month and a half for his background check to clear, has been calling twice a week for a while now. They finally got back to him, and told him they lost A LOT of the background checks/drug tests. A bunch of people have to take the drug test again during orientation. Since a lot of people start smoking again right after they take the drug test, I expect quite a few people to have just ruined their lives. He got 4 days notice about this.

GS trying to skim its SA class due to market conditions, or honest mistake?

I don't know how this could be possible considering the fact that you needed to clear your background check quite some time ago (or at least I did) and they have the results recorded electronically. I assume this will only affect those interns who do not already have confirmation that they passed their background checks. I think ops might be affected the most because all of the securities division and IBD background checks needed to clear quite some time ago because of the timing of those hires.
