Speaking Slowly
Do you guys have any suggestions on how to slow down your speaking at an interview? Even after practicing a lot at home, I tend to speak too quickly at interviews. Thanks.

i like to count to 2 after each word. in my head, of course.
I second what jackdaniels said. I usually count to 5 after each word in my head, and it's worked well so far, having landed jobs at DEShaw, Google, McKinsey, and PIMCO.
I sure hope these aren't full 2-5 seconds. I'm pretty sure people would think you're just stupid if you talked that slow.
Do you talk fast out of nervousness or do you find yourself talking fast everyday? It really depends on what the cause of it is. If it's nervousness, you have to find a way to ease your nerves.
is I pretend that I'm talking to a small child. Pausing before answering a question also helps.
Yeah but how do you remember to pause? I guess it just comes with experience, but no matter how relaxed I am before the interview starts, during the interview I still end up talking a little too fast out of nervousness. :-o
Yup, 2-5 full seconds. You always talk faster than you think, so I think it slows you down adequately.
I find that if I'm speaking too fast, it helps to stand up and walk around the table before answering any questions. If it is a telephone interview with no table handy, I mute the phone and rehearse my answer. Once I'm satisfied, I unmute it and reply.
