Stalker?

When cold emailing, I know it's okay to say you found their information on the alumni network and that's how you have their email. Is it okay to then say you looked them up on linkedin and say something like "I saw we both interned in the XYZ industry before, I'd be interested to know how you made the move to the ABC industry." Or does the fact that you looked them up on linkedin make you sound a little stalkerish...

FalconInstead of saying you look them up, just say you stumble upon their name while browsing the alumni search results and also noticed the similar work background.

Bingo.

I was recently cold-emailed. Let me tell you that the feeling of being "stalked" is not one that came to my head. If anything, cold emailing someone impresses them, and makes them feel important.
