Student at Non Target (BU) transfer?

Hello! I am a sophomore at a non target, Boston University. I have a 3.9+ GPA, and an internship at a respectable boutique in the area. I was wondering if it would be worth it to transfer to another school and lose my network for a more prestigious school (think Cornell ILR or USC Marshal.) do you think it is worth it?

For more context: I have great relationships with my professors and involvement in clubs. Planning on applying for more internships in Boston if I don’t transfer. Would transferring to BC or Tufts be more viable?

If you're a sophomore at BU, it doesn't make sense to transfer to another school. Firstly, for finance being a sophomore is when recruiting happens so if you transfer as a junior you will have to push your grad date back. Secondly, if you're doing well and have an internship you can utilize the BU alumni network to get something. Stick to the path that makes sense.

Transferring into your Junior year could be a good move depending on your time line and the school you get into. I think a lot of people on this site think the only opps are your sophmore year IB pipeline and a rare junior year opp at a BB or EB. Your school can carry you years into full time recruiting and definently boost any chances at landing a good placement your junior summer, and top MBA programs to make career jumps later on.

That being said it is quite late in your college career to transfer especially to schools like BC and Tufts which genuiley won't provide you any benefit over BU. It would really only be advisable if you got into a true target or high semi target, think the Ivy's, UVA, UNC, Mich, Stern, Georgetown.

BC is much more respected than BU in the finance world, tufts is a toss up. But to say a school like UNC would be better than BC for finance is just false they are both semis, depends on if you want to work in the northeast or southeast.
