Student in Montreal

Hi all,

Many of the threads in this forum go something along the lines of a personal description followed by "Am I up to snuff?/Do I have what it takes?" Just before I give a similar rundown of myself, I want to phrase things thing a little differently.

The question I am asking is not about "whether I can make it now", but "how should I be getting there?” I've talked with some analysts and associates about what their work is like I honestly think IB is for me.

Ok, I'm a second-year Math student at McGill (target for Canadian Banks and I few US BBs) working towards a Math-Finance degree (Have not decided whether it will be a Bach. Commerce or Bach. Sci). GPA: 3.68 This past summer I obtained some basic accounting experience and in years before that, nothing relevant to finance. I also have some nice extracurriculars (Accounting and finance related). I am also, of coarse, networking with alumni. . . Nothing yet My current objective is a summer position/part-time job to make myself competitive for a good third-year summer position. I have applied to a handful of VC,HFs to do clerical work here in Montreal, but I'm not confident they will pan out. I feel like I should be pushing harder to get this sort of work. . . What else should I be doing?

Thanks, in advance
