Stuttering is killing my career before it's even started
I just ruined yet another hirevue with a BB for IBD off-cycle intern. I'm just really disappointed in myself. I practiced the questions hundreds of times! I practice to the camera, mirror, and to family & friends. Somehow I just get nervous last minute and ruin it. Stuttering while I'm nervous isn't too common but I don't know why it's so hampering in this case. I just get tongue-tied so strangely, my mind goes to freeze mode.
I really hate myself at this point, I ruined 4 or 5 of these already. Fml
Try to slow down and just speak slower, it gives your mouth a chnace to catch-up with your brain. It sounds simple but generally works well, it becomes second nature eventually but takes practice. I had the same issue when I was interviewing back in the day.
Message me. I’m a stutterer and am now an associate at a BB. Can give you some tips I use or just talk. I’ve been there man it’s awful but don’t let it be your crutch. Conquer it and own it. Dms are open
Have you looked into beta blockers or anxiety meds?
Hang in there OP. I feel like Hirevues should’ve been discontinued yesterday.
I work in MF PE. My best associate has a terrible stutter. He has and will continue to have a great career
You can practice by going to public speech practices where people practice doing public speeches in front of big group of people. Kills your fear of talking to other people and increases confidence tremendously
