Summer Analyst Program

I wanted to know what I could do behind the scenes to increase my chances of landing an internship at a BB(BAML, JPM, Citi, etc). Let's say I want to get into BAML's GSAM COO Summer Analyst Program. I have done all of the generic things people say such as extracurricular activities, a crisp resume. I know submitting an application online is almost useless. Chances are my resume won't be read since everyone submits one. I do not know people at these companies who work full time in the specific role I want.
