Summer Internship after Spring study abroad

Hey guys,

I just finished my freshman year as an Econ major. My business school at my college is a target, although I'm in the Arts and Sciences department. I managed to secure a PWM internship at a BB this summer, but I was wondering how to approach my sophomore summer internship situation if I study abroad spring of soph year.

I do have a connection who's could easily get me an internship, although it's in another country, so therefore it's unpaid. Should I try and network hard this fall, utilize some connections at the BB PWM, or should I just sit back and take the offer abroad? I have a pretty packed fall schedule with little time for the fall semester, so I wouldn't have loads of time to look around, but I'd be able to do what's necessary.

If you are looking to do IB, I think you are on the right track with the BB PWM freshman summer.

As far as sophomore summer goes, it's meant to set up your junior year for SA recruitment. This should be a step more relevant to IB than your previous summer.

If your connection can get you a job abroad, first look at which company it is. If it's a large, reputable firm with a global presence, it's much better than if it's a smaller firm, because recruiters can more easily trust and verify the sort of work you did (to see if you actually developed skills necessary or if you were just dicking around).

Money shouldn't matter to you at this stage in your career IMO, unless you really need it.

Good luck
