Summer Internships - Best options?
Like many on here I would absolutely love an internship at GS or JP for the summer, but it doesn't appear to be in the cards at this time. Currently at 3.55 at a decent state school (top 80), but not prestigious by any means. What are my best options as far as internships go? I was offered by Northwestern Mutual, but thats more of a last resort.
Appreciate any help, my school doesn't get recruited very heavily, so I would love some advice.
Are you talking about this summer or next summer?
If this summer, take whatever you can get now
Sorry forgot to clarify, I'm looking ahead to next summer. Would a respected BB give me an internship? I have decent ECs, but nothing spectacular because I have had a steady job throughout college.
I kno I have a long ways to go to get into ivy league MBA and get a job at a IBank on the street but I need to start somewhere. I have had a 3.9 my last 3 semesters so things are looking up at least. Just need to know where to start
You're not completely out of the running for a job at a BB. 3.55 is okay, coming from a state school it doesn't mean much though (just being honest here).
However, if you want to have any shot- and i mean ANY shot- at working at a bank, you need to know someone who can get your resume to the top of the pile and basically get you a first round interview. Use your alumni network to see what people are working at BBs. Use any family connections you have and leverage those connections hard. It takes work, but it can be done.
What are you doing this summer?
