Talked to a Sr. MD and got response, is this a good sign?

I'm a Junior seeking a winter internship got connected to a MM regional IB Sr MD through a connection. I was aggressive and asked if I could intern during the winter. He told me he'll see what he could do (last wed)

Checked in with him today and told me he's still trying to get approval and appreciates my interest... is this a good sign? Do you think I'll end up with something? Essentially he's trying to pull strings to hire me for this winter being that he's really high up in the company.

How long should I hold out till I start searching elsewhere?

"he's still trying to get approval and appreciates my interest." This is a good sign.

Not much is probably getting done this week though because of thanksgiving. You should probably still keep searching for other things just to make sure you have options, but follow up next tues/weds again. It sounds like a good start though.

DreamMonkeycant rly keep looking cuz if I end up with an "offer" then it'll look bad for me to reject and say I got something somewhere else
Keep looking. In fact, keep looking until you have a signed offer letter in your hand. This happens all the time -- the other firms will expect you to be talking to groups other than them.
