Maybe there are more than 20+ kids with resumes better than yours. That means higher gpa and/or more relevant experience in banking, VC, pe, etc. it could also be that your networking efforts were not aggressive enough so when it came down to picking resumes, nobody vouched for you.
This is what everyone forgets about target schools. All of the interviews go to basically the same group of people, so if you're not in it, it sucks.
Yup. Almost all the top OCR spots were taken by kids with 3.9's who had previous FO experience at BB's/top MM IB's or something along that line with a bunch of extracurricular activities (much this is is de facto networking, where the guys ahead of you pull for the underclassmen that they were friends with).
Almost all my interviews were through extensive networking and going through non-OCR channels.
