TAS Big 4

So I heard that going into TAS for a Big 4 firm is very similar to what you would be doing in IB and is a great position to lateral into IB. Is that true? I also heard the pay for TAS is nothing near other finance positions excluding IB for the amount of work you have to put in so its not worth going for. Can anyone confirm or give insight into this? Thanks
