In a bind here:
Offer 1: Top private banking analyst program Pros: Great firm, great salary for wm/pb Cons: experience, exit opps questionable
Offer 2: Mid-tier investment bank analyst program Pros: better experience, better exit opps Cons: not a great name
Offer 2 because of the exit opportunities - whatever job you take now should be about the experience and the exit opps. After all, you know you're leaving in two years, so you should really be focused on the long term.
Offer 2 by a mile.
Private Banking is a completely different ball game from Investment Banking. If you have a lot of good connections, then it might go well but no guarantees. Also, you will not be learning the modeling that you will need in IB/PE/HF world.
PM me the names of the firms if you want.
Which one do you WANT to do?
Kac10 if you don't mind me asking what was the final interview like for the BB private bank? Any technical questions?
If you want to do IBD or PE take offer number 2. If private banking is what interests you, do that. The jobs are so completely different that I can't believe you don't have a preference. PB tends to be a long term position, so keep that in mind.
