Transferring from Consulting to Banking
I have been working at an RX consulting firm like FTI/A&M/etc for about 6 months.
I am planning to make the jump to the Banking side, either IB or RX Banking.
1) As I am not an undergraduate anymore, what should I expect from interviews? My understanding is that they could potentially ask me to build like a 3 statement model, but would they require more? eg) LBO model, etc
2) Is there a "recruiting season" for people like me? Or would it mostly depend on the openings that the companies have from time to time?
3) Please kindly leave some advice or guidance if there is any for me.
Thank you!
Perhaps more specifics what kind of banks, location, group, positions you are considering? Generally speaking the season is usually comp days, so like dec-jan, from what I've seen, since A&As get their bonus and then GTFO.
Thank you for the response.
I am in New York. I am looking into 1st year analyst positions for any M&A or Restructuring banks, like Lazard, Evercore, etc.
Would it be way harder to look for positions in "off-season" like this summer? I just got out of college last year and am not familiar with the
process of transferring.
Thank you!
