Transition from Law.

I am an undergrad law student at a top 3 NLU. After going to law school for 2.5 years now, I find that I am interested in finance and would like to make a transition. I want to get into a B-school (HBS or Wharton or IIM A/B/C). Any advice on how do I make the transition into IB/PE/VC for exp before I apply to bschools?

Do you have any background in finance? This will matter.

If the answer to the above question is no, you will probably have to do at least a couple of years of big law at a reputable firm doing transactional work (M&A) or restructuring. While this won't necessarily make you a hot commodity for IB, at least you'll have some finance background and will be able to speak as to why you want to do IB. But not to worry, as many lawyers make the transition from law to IB at some point in their careers.

Also, I think you should ask yourself why you want to do an MBA. What is your objective? At first glance, it seems disorderly to do Undergrad -> LS -> IB couple of years -> MBA. What is your long term goal?
