Underemployed

I've been working as a Credit Analyst underwriting commercial loans for a small Atlanta bank for several months. The work isn't particularly demanding nor is the schedule. Oftentimes, I have nothing to do throughout the day because I finish my work early. I've been talking to a friend who works for Sun Trust RH about trying to get a job as a syndicated lending analyst. Is it likely that STRH is looking to hire someone that graduated almost a year ago, and that doesn't have any experience in I-Banking? I graduated from a top 10 school last May with a degree in Int'l Relations and a minor in Econ. My GPA wasn't the best (3.3), but I was involved in extra curricular activities (varsity athlete). Will SunTrust only concern itself with the next batch of soon-to-be graduates with higher GPAs, or do I stand a fighting chance?

SunTrust will take people with 1 +/- years of work experience. I'm not sure how tight their GPA policies are, but the big upside is that they actually look at externally submitted applications. You stand a chance.

Honestly, you'd be competitive at a lot of jobs, start applying EVERYWHERE
