Using a recruiter with low GPA - waste of time?

I'm in the top group (or 2nd place depending who you ask) at a top 3 BB. About 8 months in now and I'm getting several seemingly generic emails from headhunters asking to work with them and use their name during the registration. Problem is, my undergrad GPA was something in the ~2.7 ballpark. My undergrad degree is from a top-private regional school (think along the lines of Georgetown, Amherst, Northwestern, etc.).

I've heard both arguments for why using a recruiter with a low undergrad GPA is, or is not, a complete waste of time.

Wondering what your thoughts are as only 8 months in and I can't see myself lasting another entire year running my MD's 8th COGS assumption at 2am "just to see what happens in that scenario".

No MBA as I was able to get into banking without it. but I heard recruiters blow as well unless you're top pre school - top elementary - top boarding school - Wharton - 2 years of BB internships - GS TMT,

Had the same situation. Never share your GPA unless explicitly asked. Received top IB offers and PE offers without sharing.

1) banking acts as a first good filtre once you’re in

2) people assume you have the same GPA as the others interviewing

Send a generic email instead of answering Qs saying “ Hi Xxx, currently in the X group at top BB and looking to understand what clients you’re working with etc..” they’ll ask for a CV and call it a day
