Using different address when applying out-of-state?

Hey guys!

I've read on here about some people using friends/family addresses when trying to find FT out of state. I'm a junior graduating this year (so technically a senior) looking to find a job out in California. I grew up in Minnesota and have been here my whole life, and I'm currently going to school here, too. I'm pretty set on moving out to Cali (wanted to move since 7th grade, but my parents didn't want to).

I have a good family friend that lives in Cali right now, and I'm sure he'd let me use his address on my resume. But what are you guys' thoughts on this? I guess my biggest concern is getting caught, but I've heard some people have been successful doing this. And like I said, I'm set on moving out there and don't plan on moving back to Minnesota (at least not for years). If I could move out there sooner, I would, but the earliest I could is June 2021 since I'm finishing up school right now.

Thanks in advance!
