Website Says NOT to Call--Submit Resume Online
I was just casually browsing some boutique IB websites in my region who might be interested in hiring someone with little experience like myself. One such site said they were interested in receiving resumes from people with all levels of experience (great!). Then I noticed the site said to submit a resume online to HR and NOT to call anyone at the bank. Is this a legitimate/common request, or are they counting on only the extremely interested applicants calling?
why not call anonymously and give a fake name see their reaction, and if they DONT hang up on you or cuss you out, call back the next day as yourself and actually pitch yourself for a summer position..... :)
Just submit yo damn resume online son.
I mean I'd email someone there - it's easier and to be honest, no one really likes a cold call, they only really like to have phone calls with people they've first at least briefly touched base with via email.
For all of the inexperienced guys on here, please don't cold call senior bankers. Just send them emails. First, they are much more likely to respond because they can do it on their own time. Second, they don't want to have an awkward conversation with a random person any more than you do. If they respond to your email, you can then ask them to schedule a call or coffee.
Just to play devils advocate, everything on WSO and M&I suggests to, in the initial email, ask for a time to chat on the phone or meet up for coffee/lunch...I mean, that's the point of networking right?
I have no issue with coming straight out and asking for time to chat or coffee, sorry if that wasn't clear.
Email couldn't hurt, I would say if it specifically says not to call then don't call.
