Not in IB but I have friends who went to good target schools (lower than the ones you mentioned) with similar GPA who did a year at ok middle market banks or no name boutiques who were able to lateral to BBs or elite boutiques as a second or third year analyst. They now work in private equity/private credit.
The fact that you call William Blair "a terrible spot" shows how little knowledge you have on IB firms or maybe you think you are entitled to a top BB. But to answer your question yes i think you will be dinged at several places due to lackluster grades compared to your peers at the Ivies.
Didn't mention anything about a top BB, so no need to give the ignorant extrapolation. Also, William Blair perhaps isn't a "terrible spot" in terms of the bank itself, but it's not an "entitled" thing to point out that they have objectively worse exit opportunities than numerous other IBs. I do appreciate your candidness, however.
