What am I supposed to do now that I didn't get an offer?

This isn't meant to be a cry-baby post about not getting an offer, I understand how competitive it is. I did my networking as best as I could, I sent in myriad applications, but it appears now that I'm not going to get any offers for 2023 SA (unless something completely unexpected happens).

And yes, I understand that I'm only a sophomore in college, but where is the logical path to go on from here? Like is it trying for full-time next year? I will definitely try for an FT offer but that's even more competitive and unlikely than SA roles. I feel like I need to have a plan because the uncertainty is more awful than anything else. Anyone have tips?

Can you extend graduation 1 semester (December) and recruit for SA 2024? FT is very difficult without SA.

Two things though - it's still extremely early and you need to keep trying, some banks will recruit well into the fall. But if you get there with no offers and decide to extend grad, you need to do a real post-mortem and understand what you're missing on that you didn't get anything

First of all FT is absolutely possible without SA, you’re just going to have to prepare for the question of why you didn’t have one, and how you prepared yourself for a FT role without having one. My suggestion is to create some deliverable proof that you were working to learn more about the industry in your summer. Create something, learn something, be interesting and network your ass off because that’s how 99% of people get jobs

I know kids that didn’t get offers until February of this year for summer 2022 (at BBs). Keep your head up man, this process is brutal.

Spend some time trying to figure out what went wrong (luck is a factor, but being really honest with yourself about weaknesses is critical). Then spend some time figuring out what you want to pursue that you haven’t already not gotten (maybe small banks/groups, consulting, tech roles, other roles within finance). Definitely shoot your shot with FT and don’t give up on networking, but don’t put yourself in a do or die position later on because unfortunately not everyone breaks in
