What are my chances of getting into an MM bank?

Hey guys, I am a non-target rising senior with a 3.4 GPA looking to break into IB. This summer I have been doing a PE internship where I haven't done much modeling between 1 or 2 DCF's. I did a lot of research and sourcing and this fall I will hopefully be an M&A analyst intern at a M&A advisory firm specializing in the lower middle market. I am trying to break into IB in SF, specifically within healthcare or tech as that is what the firm I am working on now focuses on. I have been networking and have had a few phone calls, but not much time this summer to visit SF since I am in SoCal and am working two jobs.

Do you guys have any advice for me or someone in my position regarding breaking in to a MM bank?

One of the best things you can do is make that trip to SF. Meeting in person goes a lot farther than emails and phone calls, and I think that's something that would really make you stand out as a candidate.

Do everything in your power to get your GPA above 3.5 - that's a cutoff for most banks. That's not to say you can't get around it by networking hard, but it'd make your life a lot easier.
