What are the best jobs for applying what you learn in the job to your personal investing?

Hello,

What are the best finance jobs where what you learn in the job provide strong insights into how you would select investments in your own portfolio (bonds, stocks, etc.)?

For example, do quantitative analysts employ the same rigorous risk management and quant strategy models to invest themselves? If so, how do they do it at home without all the software and programs that are at an office?

I'd like to work in a job that I can apply to my own personal life.

Thanks.

Worked at a real estate PE shop modeling apartment building acquisitions. That came in real handy later in life, when I had enough money saved to start investing in real estate. I wasn't just making gut decisions but actually knew how to think about the deal, underwrite the property, go to the city to figure out what the growth initiatives were going to be to develop out the neighborhood, etc. And once you gain confidence buying property on someone else's dime, you have more confidence to buy with your own.

this should be obvious...but trading on a large volume flow desk...you will see the very large participants trade...learn how, why and when...and then over time you can learn how to anticipate their flows....which often move markets.

just google it...you're welcome
