What encourages you to pass along resumes?

After having a coffee chat with a internship-seeking student, what encourages you to pass along their resume/refer them to the hiring manager?

Is it an interest in the company and its recruiting process, an interest in the job itself, or demonstrating knowledge in the domain? If a mix of all three, which would you say is most influential? Thanks

Do they seem like they are down to earth (culture fit)

Do they understand what investment banking actually is and what we do for a living? (i consider this the "technicals" piece)

Do they have their shit together? (good grades, neat, no errors in messages to me)

None of this matters if its a genuine acquaintance. If thats the case, if I think they are hard workers and good people, of course you pass the resume along

Heard this in a MBA-level IB company presentation (middle market bank presentation, I will not divulge firm name). They want to ensure you'll "fit" in culturally.

Seems to be similar in other jobs too.

Of course, technicals and your story should make coherent sense. "Fit" definitely seems to be very important at banks that normally don't recruit on campus (specifically at MBA especially if it's in a city where your school normally doesn't place - for example, SF/Chicago/Houston etc).
