What the fudge? Headhunter calling a summer analyst? This smells suspiciously...
Ok, so why the fudge would a headhunter call a summer analyst? It seems unlikely that any bank would recruit full time analysts via headhunters (admittedly, I may be wrong about that. But I was under the impression that you need at least some work experience and track record for that - and I don't consider 2 months long enough).
So I am getting the suspicion that given the recent shuffles at our division, that guy is just sniffing for free information...could have thought about that before giving him my cell and agreeing to speak this evening. As I have quite a good relationship with my (soon to be former) boss, who will bat for me to swtich from S&T to IBD, I am quite cautious.
So, my question is: am I being too paranoid? Is it possible that these guys can benefit me?
my friend (whos currently doing an SA gig at a BB) just got a call this week from a headhunter for a junior trader position for the fall... i guess it happens
Can't hurt you to go talk to the guy. If he doesn't have anything better to offer then so be it. You're not going to ruin your relationship with your current boss just by looking at your options.
