Impressing granny? Your high school friends? I think its annoying/stupid when people act like a degree is an end to itself. I prefer comments on what job/position is more impressive.

Interesting. Im going to take the contrarian view and say HBS. Nothing beats HBS they take the absolute cream of the crop when it comes to "proffessionals" I would say less for undergrads because Harvards on par with stanford/yale/princeton. I know a couple of students who rejected harvard for yale political science.

The Harvard undergrad (or any other top U-grad)is much more impressive to me than any B-school. The reason being that top undergrads only take the absolute best HS kids in the nation. The highest a HS kid can aim for is a top U-grad. The highest a top college student can aim is NOT B-school. So a top U-grad is saying I am among the best in the nation. Being in a top MBA is saying I am among the best applying to B-school (huge difference). Top college kids can go to law, medicine, entrepreneurship, etc. B-school only attracts certain kids. Plus even the top B-schools in the nation have ~3.6 average GPA which is good but not super impressive.

Final point: Top U-grad schools take kids with high SATs (on average) which is somewhat correlated with raw intelligence whereas B-schools can take kids that score lower on SATs.

And it's not fair to say top B-schools only take top GMAT because it is a self-selected sample (ie only certain people choose to take the GMAT) compared to the SAT (or ACT) where every HS kid takes it.

Rant over.
