What's the Worst Mistake You Have Made In a Cold Email?
For the second time in about 5 months, I sent something to a man starting with "Ms. XYZ" The first time, I guess he didn't notice or didn't care cause he followed up and put me in contact with a consultant in charge of recruiting. This time, I'm hoping I'm as lucky.
But I'm wondering what's the worst typo or mistake you've made in a cold e-mail?
put the wrong peron's name and listed the wrong company. the guy actually went out of the way to respond... he was an MD too
What was his response if you don't mind me asking?
don't remember exactly, but i remember it being a snarky 1 line email. something like "He works at such and such company, and you think you can work in investment banking, attention to detail, smh"
Guy responded, "He's with another firm". Oh man.
I triple or quad check my e-mails now.
Wrote the most beautiful email on earth to a ml md. His response was "FYI it's Merrill. Good luck." I just lold cus I missed one l.
Mistakes,even that minor mishap,can cost you......a lot.
Got an ibd offer at an equivalent bank :). but yes , definitely a stupid mistake. It's funny because he read through the entire email just to see my spelling mistake at the end. Learned my lesson for sure.
Spelled a BB VP's name wrong. It was especially bad since I wrote "Hello Brain" instead of "Brian" and it was the first sentence in the e-mail. My friends still laugh at me to this day.
Spelled names wrong and all that jazz. People will react differently, but you keep moving to the next one without errors.
