When should I call recruiter back?

A senior recruiter of a large bank I applied with contacted me 2 days ago. We spoke briefly about my experience and the job description. He then told me that a Hiring manager would call me to speak with me the next day (yesterday). I never got a phone call... Should I call him back next week and let him know I didn't receive a call from the hiring manager? Any suggestions would help. Thanks guys.

I’d say call the recruiter back the day after he said you’d get a call. If you wait a week, you might be too late, and they told you when they’d call so I’d say you have every right to call back the day after if they left you hanging.

Sorry I’m a bit late. I think something along the lines of what @tzhou91” said is fine. Remember hiring managers have jobs that (unless they’re HR people hiring for just an internship program) generally don’t involve interviewing candidates. So, sometimes “real work” gets in the way.
