When should I stop applying for IB

I accepted a job offer with Big 4 audit in November. My start date is Sept 1st. I havent stopped applying for IB and AM gigs since then. I continue to see IB boutique gigs popping up in my home country. How close to the start date is too late to renege? Or is there ever a good time to renege?

If that's really what you want to do, there shouldn't be a timetable for reneging. It doesn't matter if you renege now or the morning of 9/1, either way you're (most likely) burning your bridge with that firm. You can't pass up on an offer you really want because you feel bad about it.

Big 4 Audit is a far cry from IB/AM. Once you're in that career you'll have a tough time making the switch over. Corp Fin may be a better choice for you than Big4.
