When to call this guy

Just a quick question-

I am really bad about phone calls, maybe it's a generational thing but I think that phone calls are a somewhat formal thing. That being said, I had a brief phone call with someone who is a good contact of mine within a BB , he told me I could come in for an interview as soon as possible. This was 12/17, I e-mailed him telling him when I would be available to come in and this was on 12/18 or 19. I told him i could come in on 1/10 for the interview and received no response. I e-mailed him again on Friday (1/3).

I am thinking if no response by Tuesday I should call him but I just want to get confirmation from someone that this is the right move and won't seem intrusive. I know he is very very busy and I am not of any actual importance to him so I don't want to bother him. Am I just being overly paranoid here? He is a director, do they get annoyed about phone calls like this?
