When to start networking for lateral?
Starting at a lower tier bank in IB in the summer and come from a super nontarget with basically no contacts at other banks. From LinkedIn searches and personal experiences with analysts at the bank over the summer, many analysts lateral to a BB, top MM, or occasionally an EB. With all of the analyst openings recently across banking, should I start networking now before I even start FT so I can have a better chance at a lateral in a year? I am wondering if this would come across terribly as I am already thinking about other opportunities before I have officially joined the bank. Any advice is appreciated.
