Where/how to publish research if I'm a student
Hello everyone,
I'm a student very interested and passionate about ER and I'm currently part of my school's applied portfolio management program. This semester's project is about creating an in depth report on a company with different models and forecasts. The quality of my work is very high and it shows my tenacity for the field. To be able to obtain a good job after I graduate and start making a name for myself is there any places where I can publish my work? I will have one report (20+ pages) done by the end of the semester but plan on doing a second one to gain more experience. If anyone has any advise it would be greatly appreciated.
lol nobody wants to read some random college students subpar research report (yes even though you think it's great, it likely isn't).
pdf it and put it on scribd.
Send it over and I can take a look and give you feedback by next week
The report won't be finished until the end of the semester, would you mind if I send it to you then? It would be greatly appreciated if you took the time to look it over.
Perhaps try and reach out to one of your professors to co-author it with you? I just began writing a research paper with my finance professor, we're co-authoring it and submitting for academic publication upon completion. It definitely doesn't hurt to ask, and it definitely doesn't hurt to have your name listed as a co-author of a research paper right next to an actual academic professional's!
I can't really give you advice on where to publish it, but people in my portfolio management group have sent reports over before in informational interviews/real interviews and people have been impressed. I suspect the real reason people like our reports is the formatting since they are likely too long for a busy professional to read in their entirety.
In terms of your actual question, do you want it to be published in an academic journal, news source, or some other option? That probably changes how you go about it.
I think it'd want to perhaps have people in the industry use my research as a starting point if they would like to initiate coverage on a new company and that way build a relationship that could lead to a job offer once I graduate.
Seeking Alpha will get you paid for it. Keep in mind that plenty of the content on that website is, to be diplomatic, useless.
