Which would be a better sophomore school year internship to take?
Currently, I have an offer at a BB for a local PWM branch and another offer for a small private equity firm nearby.
This summer, I am doing a local boutique PWM internship. I’d like to work in LevFin for IB. Which would be better for that?
The BB PWM would only boost my resume by providing a good name, but at the PE firm, I’d be taught LBO modeling and get decent valuation experience (according to a past intern). I’m leaning toward the PE offer. Would that be the better choice?
Take the PE offer. No reason to waste two summers working in PWM, cold-calling and managing client lists all day. Even at a small PE shop, you'll get exposure to the deal process, sourcing techniques, modeling, and other transferrable skills.
It would be a school year internship, but yeah thats along the lines of what I was thinking. Thanks.
I'd comment but I ran out.
Depends on which BB it is but sophomore year taking a PE firm would look very impressive especially given that you already have PWM experience this summer.
For junior summer do you want to work at that BB in a different role?
It's UBS at a local branch.
Personally, UBS is not my first choice. I want to work in LevFin, so my top choices are BAML and CS.
Seems obvious, PE shop.
