Writing the SEO Essay: what professional goals of a trader?!

Hi guys,

I'm currently a junior in college. I heard about SEO, a free program that places you into an investment banking summer internship after an application, phone interview, and in-person interview. Sounds great right?

Unfortunately, you have to write an essay asking: "What are your professional goals to the first program you applied to?" The first program I applied to was Investment Banking - Sales and Trading. Now, I've been looking for inspiration around the web and I ultimately cannot find one. I don't come from a wealthy family so to be very honest the very clear goal in my mind right now is to make money. I want to be a trader because I am familiar with the markets, enjoy paper trading, and like the lifestyle.

My question is: how can I write this 250 word essay without sounding plain boring. Everyone wants to make money. In other words, what is the endgame of the life as a trader? Will I be able to somehow positively impact society? Create more transparent financial instruments (if I was a structurer)? and so on.

Ultimately, when I think about trading, I think of the zero-sum game. Is there a way to create value? Is there something I'm not seeing as a junior in college? Please let me know what you think of the professional goals in the life of a trader. Perhaps I am reading this wrong and focusing on the career and not myself.

If there really is nothing else, then perhaps writing the essay about trading will be futile and I should concentrate on professional goals in a broader sense. Guessing my professional goals in the far future of course would be completely fiction and hypothetical which leads me to question the value of this essay prompt.

Thanks guys - I appreciate it, MadCatZ
