Hi there, currently working in London under the Tier 5 as a Canadian at one of the independents (think Roths / Lazard / Evercore etc.)

Was sponsored under the Tier 2 visa for my internship but it was a bit of a nightmare. Would recommend the Tier 5. Feel free to message me privately if you'd like more information.

I did a stint with a Big 4 in UK with a Tier 5 visa. Tier 2 was going to take c. 2 months to process vs. Tier 5 2 weeks and I wanted to start sooner so petitioned for Tier 5 visa. The contracted period ended 1 week before the expiration of my T5 visa. The plan was to switch over to Tier 2 during non-busy season where I could be seconded out to the Toronto office while I petitioned for the new visa (as you can't switch status from T5 to T2 while in the UK).

Note though that your time in UK with a T5 doesn't count towards the time for get your UK permanent residency so if you plan to be there for the long term, try to find a T2 sponsorship.

Hope you find this helpful.
