Aerospace Engineer getting bored of engineering

Hey guys.

I'm currently a third-year Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Virginia. I have no internship experience, as I've been involved with research for the past summer. I have strong leadership experience from extracurriculars, but they are all focused on engineering and design, not finance. The only thing I guess I really have going for me is a strong 3.7 GPA which hopefully goes up to 3.75 by the end of next week.

Let me tell you about my goals. Like every other monkey on this site, I want to break into IB. I love engineering, but from my experience so far its just not exciting enough for me to do everyday. Now it is a very strong career alternative to IB, of course, and I wouldn't mind working in engineering for a few years if it came to that.

My question is, what should I do from here? Internships? How can I present myself if I am worthless to an investment bank? Where should I apply? (I'm in the Washington, D.C. area) Is it too late for internships?

I also want to note that I am going to pursue the M.S. in Commerce offered at the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce. Do you guys think that this will give me a leg up over the competition? What can I do with this degree? Thanks for the help. I look forward to posting here in the future.

...what am I getting myself into...

???

Pursuing a degree you know nothing about has nothing to do with finance.

Search the site to get a better idea of what IBD is like. Behind the big names and numbers it might not actually be your thing.

There's a lot of stuff in finance you can do with engineering that isn't IBD (and IMO would be a lot more interesting that IB)

Yes this winter break I plan to spend a few weeks soaking up as much info. as I can concerning the different career paths one can take as an engineer on Wall Street. What stuff in particular do you think is the most interesting?

I mean from a cerebral point of view, certain trading, structuring/pricing, quant, and strats are all pretty interesting to me.
