Career move

Hi,

I currently work in tax and want to make a move into fixed income trading. I have no experience outside of one year as a trade support analyst (equities).I spoke with a mentor recently and he recommended that I find a role that would assist in developing skills that I could transfer into a trading role in the future. My question is what kind of roles fit that description?

Thanks!

I am 28, undergrad in finance. I have an MBA from Emory (Goizueta). I currently live in NYC.

Thanks!

i think that at this point, prop shops are your best bet what you should do is focus on reaching out to alumni who might have contacts in chicago, because work in the credit market tends to be a little bit more non traditional over there and easier to break into

but in terms of building valuable skills, i would strongly recommend trying to develop skills with excel and using research based software like capital IQ. in terms of fixed income, i would recommend that you try to familiarize yourself with the in and outs of trading. i hear zolio has a free online program
