Career Move From FR

Hi. So I've been in Financial Reporting for almost two years now (coming up in July). I work for a third party servicing company that handles a lot of the alternative investments. However, the career path I really want to pursue is more of a corporate financial analyst type of a role. I've found it in the past kind of tough to make that transition when trying to apply for those positions. I was wondering if I'm missing a step in between. Are there also other similar positions that anyone can recommend I should check out (something that bridges FR and financial analysis)?

I'm pretty new to WSO, but I've looked at other posts, and hopefully I can get a little guidance on my job search. The plan is to switch jobs within the next few months. Thanks everyone!
