Final Year Business Student [UK]

Hello,

I discovered this website only yesterday and it seems quite lively and full of information so here I now am, a new member.

About myself, I´m a 21 year old anglo-american (British parents but I was born in the US) going into my fourth and final year of my undergraduate degree, a BSc (Hons) International Management at the Manchester Business School in England. Disappointingly I currently only have 58% overall (a 2:2) contributing to a third of my final grade. I am looking to go into management consulting after I graduate however due to the fact I am currently on a 2:2 and all MC firms require applicants to be on track for a 2:1 there is little use of me applying at the moment for a graduate job, I will apply in February or later depending on openings (the reason being that in February I will get my latest grades which will put me on track for a solid 2:1).

So far I have no experience with any firm in the industry, last summer I volunteered at a summer camp for teenagers and this summer I am interning at an automotive manufacturer in Spain. Other than that I have won trading events organised by university societies and their partners (Citi and BP), I spent a year abroad at the National University of Singapore, I speak French fluently and a decent amount of German and Spanish. Non-academic or professional-wise my main interests are sports (I enjoy almost all sports) and traveling (31 countries visited as of now).

Knowing this, would anyone be able to advise me on the next steps I should take to improve my chances of getting into MC? Are there any tests I can currently take that could be a plus when I do come to apply? Should I try to improve my linguistic skills? Is it still worth applying despite the fact I currently have a 2:2? And finally, is it possible to apply for graduate roles in the US, or even elsewhere, from the UK? A friend of mine told me that I would have to go to the US if I did reach the assessment centre and interview stage but for larger companies wouldn´t it be possible to do the interviews etc. In the UK where they also have offices? Perhaps my best bet would be to apply for the UK and later on ask for a transfer?

Any advice is welcome :-)

Take care!

P.S. If I should repost my questions in the management consulting sub-section of the forum please let me know.
