Hello, 2nd Year S&T Analyst- Looking for transition into RE Finance

Hello everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself to WSO and my career goals.

2nd year S&T Analyst non-BB, looking to make a career transition into Real Estate Finance.

No RE experience but interested in purusing an opportunity within the space. In the preliminary stages of conducting research and would really appreciate any guidance/help in regards to making the right moves.

Specifically, I think that REInvestment Management or RE Private Equity would be the most appealing. However, I understand that I have no Investment Banking experience or real valuation experience. I need an action plan...I have been networking with alumni in RE but still need to narrow down specifically what I am looking for. My selling point and skill set is sales but don't see myself becoming a broker...Just want to be able to leverage my skillset.

I have been looking at taking a few courses at NYU to learn the basics. Also looking at their MS in RE/RE Development.

Looking to get into the industry in any promising analyst role that would position myself to learn the industry. Anyone who has made a similar transition or can help me design an aciton plan would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.
