Hello All!|Newbie Question

Hi everyone!

I'm am a business major pursuing his bachelors degree at a non-target SUNY school in New York City.

My question for you all is that I want to go into investment banking and I was wondering if it would be better to take the GMAT first, get into one of the top business schools and then apply to for internship while I'm in B-school or should I start my search for internships now while studying for the GMAT?

I fear that being that my college is not on the radar of investment banks in terms of recruiting that I will not have a fighting chance at getting my foot in the door.

Any input you could send my way will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for time.

You're in New York City! By the virtue of being in NYC, I'm sure you can find a way to break into banking. Don't fear reaching out to banks; it can only help you. Worst case scenario,,,,well there isn't one really. Have your story ready on why you want to do investment banking, know the material cold, put some efforts to network and reach out, and pedigree matter won't hold you down.
