Novice trader here looking to learn more about prop trading (NYC area and ideally looking for a reputable firm willing to teach). Hope to learn from all of you!
Seriously you come on to WSO to obtain list of REPUTABLE prop firms? Whom you think will hire you, although you have no trading background and potentially no degree (Maybe I'm wrong). Yeah good luck with that.
Market making or discretionary? The obvious ones in NYC for the former are Jane Street and Five Rings, as well as Tower Research (but that's more HFT).
This forum won't be able to help you out too much with discretionary prop trading. Most people either laugh at arcades or are too obsessed with S&T and FICC recruiting to discuss other opportunities.
To add, there's also a branch of DRW in NYC that mostly deals with natgas/oil as well as Hudson River (but that's alg)
KCG is in the area as well (that's straight HFT)
