Hello!
I'm a high school senior who will be going to a target school in the fall. I'm really interested in finance and business (especially investment banking, since it seems to open up to really good opportunities).
I'm still trying to decide what to do this summer before college and was wondering whether you guys had any suggestions. My parents are urging me to get a minimum wage-ish job or a financial internship, but I'm not really sure.
If you guys could give me some insightful input that would be great :)

Have fun, hang out with your high school buddies who you will drift away from eventually, get drunk, just don't get a DUI.
But seriously, you don't want to be that freshman who can't hold his liquor...
Read a few books about finance-related events or persons (ie. Madness of Crowds, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, On the Brink, The Big Short, or persons of interest -- J.P. Morgan, Andrew Carnegie, Marc Rich, Warren Buffett) but make sure to enjoy yourself. Don't get into the technical jargon/material as you'll probably have to re-learn it later in business school. Also, spend time with high school friends -- you'll never see them again after college.
Get a construction job. It'll give you some perspective, you'll make some cash, and be in great shape for the fall.
The summer after graduation is not the time to kill yourself.
Spend time with friends, read and maybe get a PWM internship. Low key summer after high school will prepare you mentally for college.
