Introduction and situation
Hi all,
First time poster here, although I've been lurking for a while. It seems really an awesome community since I picked up a lot of tips so far.
A bit of a background about myself:
I am 23 years old from Italy and I am going to be graduated in a couple of months in biotechnology (Master degree). My GPA is 3.9 (rounded) and my university is pretty well known in my home country (quite skeptical about its impact abroad...). I spent a couple of months in a lab at my university and I had an internship in a pharmaceutical industry abroad in the Marketing and sales division last year. My ambition in the short term is to break into investment banking in London, since I developed a strong interest in finance.
I know that the "I want to break into IB from a non-traditional background" topic has been covered a lot of time, and I apologize for bringing it back, but I'd like to receive some tailored-made tips.
Any input is widely appreciated.
Can't wait to be part of this community!
Thanks a lot
target some I-banks with strong US-Italian or UK-Italian practices...if they exist. Find out who represents large Italian companies in M&A or financing. Lots of people with high GPAs out there. use your language skills to differentiate yourself.
My 2 cents.
Thanks for the insight blackcleo. Do you also think that applying to banks strong in healthcare would give me an edge, given my background?
