Leaving PwC for Grant Thornton (tax) Transfer pricing

Hello Folks! After 2 and an half years in tax department (transfer pricing) in PwC i am about to quit and join either another big 4 or Grant Thornton.
I wouldn't like to change, since i could get promoted as Senior Consultant from this summer, but i MUST. As far as I am concerned, in Big 4 tax, all depends on the people one works with and I currently work with 3 assholes: high pressure when is not necessary, no rewards, shitty and not equal valuations.
I am wondering whether to choose Grant Thornton would "impoverish" my resume. To be honest i would like to find a more "down to earth" working staff and vibe and from a fist job interview i got a great impression from GT: the HR manager recalled the names of all the people who left over the last 2 years! Furthermore GT replied to my application in 2 days!
My big concern is to not work in big projects as at big 4 and to narrow my future possibilities in top companies. I also admit that the big 4 prestige for me is like a dope :D Totally successful brainwashing!
With regard to transfer pricing: well, i love it! It is a niche but i wouldn't change it with accounting or CIT/VAT compliance!never!

Hi & welcome. GT is considered very strong, at least from people in industry with knowledge of the work environment. I think you already answered your question, you want to work somewhere that condones a positive work environment. Do some research on your potential employers and make a move. It's not like you're leaving PwC for Uncle Rick's bookkeeping. GT or any other big4 shouldn't de-value your resume.

I jumped from one big 4 to another - if you plan to eventually go to industry and leave "professional services," the question will come up. It doesn't necessarily make it a ding, but yes, going from Big 4 to GT, although GT is a great company, will cause some people to ask that question. If you have good reasons for leaving (work on middle markets, yadda yadda) then you should be fine.

But again, the true test is the interview for your next job after that.
