Looking for advice
Hey all!
I’m completely new here, and wow what a huge community have I found!
This being my first post, I’d like to share my situation and ask for some advice since I’m pretty overwhelmed by the complexity of the financial world.
I’m 21, at the third and last year of my Bachelor’s, studying Economics at an Italian Uni (non-target). My course of studies requires a mandatory placement (that I will probably start in late March 2021) and I’m thinking of applying at an investment bank abroad - specifically in the UK (not considering the current COVID-19 situation atm), since my Uni allows for abroad experiences. Now, some positions may become available on the Uni’s placement platform, but I think I’d be better off starting the search on my own. Unfortunately this is easier said than done since I found myself overwhelmed by how internships/placement usually work at IB’s - spring week? Summer internship? Am I even going to be able to find some 3-6 month positions starting in March/April? Do I even stand a chance - being just an undergrad - of getting a placement in IB? Should I aim lower?
I’d love to hear your take and listen to those who have been in a similar situation in the past.
Thanks to everyone in advance!
