I advise against public transport, lots of west coast IB offices don't offer taxi /car service, and in any case, even if you could call a taxi you'd have to book it in advance and will go crazy waiting for it to show up.. I recommend either living across the street from work or having a car and doing the drive. For an easy time finding housing, take a look at Stanford kids living off campus who are renting their places for the summer.. lots of grad students fall into this category so ask people you know who may know grad students at Stanford ..

Just to add to that, the analysts who lived nearby during my summer out west really hated their lives.. they were working pretty hard as it is and that walk home at 3 AM just felt awful.. much better to drive home even if its a short distance, kind of clears your head before you go to sleep and in any case, something just wrong about walking alone on the streets that late at night in an area that is basically a suburb

When I saw this thread in the Active list, "Menlo Park for the", I almost expected to see ...for the Win after clicking. Alas, it is not the case.

Classic - hmm, I wouldn't, the commute would suck in the morning... And at 2am, you might not want to be driving ~40min up to SF to go home...
